Our Mural

In 2010, the Board of Directors of Las Americas accepted an offer from Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe, another El Paso non-profit, to use their $23,000 grant from El Paso Museums & Cultural Affairs to have Mr. Jesus “Simi” Alvarado design a mural for the front of the Las Americas building.

The mural was executed by about seven youngsters from Juvenile Probation under the supervision of Mr. Alvarado. The experience was rewarding for all involved and Las Americas now boasts a wonderful piece of art in the great tradition of Chicano muralists.
