A home for Las Americas
Thanks to a fundraising campaign, Las Americas was able to pay off the remaining mortgage on its little pink brick building at 1500 East Yandell. As of April 2012, we are proud to call this location our permanent home! The necessary funds were raised thanks to our generous donors, as well as local foundations and corporations. We are truly grateful and could not have achieved our goal without your support.
When Las Americas settled into its new home in 2002, it was a dream-come-true. The structure was in good shape, secure and with ample parking space; it was big enough to accommodate clients, staff and many volunteers.
Since opening, thousands of needy, deserving immigrants and refugee families have come through the building seeking legal assistance to stay in this wonderful nation and lead safe and productive lives. Las Americas is proud to offer both our services, and now this space, to our clients.
Two of our long-time supporters, Mike Dipp and Enrique Moreno, came up with the idea of launching a fundraising campaign to retire the mortgage by asking 100 people for $500 each and started writing letters to their friends. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of our donors – we were able to achieve our goal!
Continued support for Las Americas
