Each summer, Las Americas offers law students from across the country the opportunity to work at the vanguard of immigration legal challenges. Our internships and clerkships include work with both the Detained and Non-Detained teams.
We require that our Law Interns and Clerks commit to the organization for a minimum of 10 weeks. This helps us ensure our interns receive a well-rounded experience, working through multiple steps of the immigration process.
Law students will receive one-on-one supervision of their legal work by attorneys and accredited representatives on our staff. As 2 or 3Ls, students will also have the opportunity to represent clients before immigration court.
Crime Victims Program - aiding clients eligible for VAWA, U-Visa, T-Visa, and related cancellation of removal cases before USCIS and Immigration Court.
Detained Deportation Defense - aiding clients detained in the three regional detention facilities with bond and asylum cases before Immigration Court.
Non-Detained Deportation Defense - aiding clients in removal proceedings, including work with clients in the Remain in Mexico program.
